Chapman Loses, 1-0, in Men’s Soccer Opener

Dave Berto of Pacific Lutheran University scored the only goal on a header from 10 yards out to lead the Lutes to a 1-0 victory over Chapman in a first-round game of the Far West Classic soccer tournament at Seattle Thursday.

The Panthers (0-1) had 14 shots on goal to Pacific Lutheran’s 15. Rick Snyder, who led Chapman in scoring the last two years, attempted a shot from about six yards early in the second half, but the shot was wide.
