Drug Addiction Is Tough Battle All by Itself

Share

“White Returns to Rams, Has Little to Say” was the headline of Chris Dufresne’s front-page article on Charles White. After reading it, I have a little something to say.

I am a drug addict undergoing rehabilitation. I am not the slightest bit embarrassed about that. On the contrary, I am grateful that I possess the inner strength to fight drug addiction. It almost killed me, and I am a pretty powerful person.

However, as powerful as I may be, I am not sure if I could handle the media. The thought scares me. I think of having to make a statement to millions of people, publicly making personal apologies that include my family, put the spotlight on myself by saying my actions will reflect my progress, only to be told in bold type on the front page that I had little to say.

I can relate to what Charles White is going through. I hope he has that extra strength to handle the media. Drug addiction is a pretty tough battle all by itself. I’m pulling for him. Drugs are fun, but not worth the consequences. It is a ticket no man alive can afford.
