‘Dire Economic Warning’
The formula for continuing economic prosperity and the solution to Orange County’s traffic, air pollution and high cost of living woes were delivered to officials and residents in the Times editorial, “A Dire Economic Warning” (Sept. 6). Here it is: “Balance the housing market and improve traffic conditions.” Brilliant!
Since Orange County residents aren’t likely to lower the prices of their homes out of the goodness of their hearts, I suggest we should immediately build millions of low-cost houses on every vacant strip of land left to us by the benevolent developers so that the county’s labor force doesn’t have to commute from Riverside or San Bernardino County.
With all those commuters off the freeways, naturally there will be less smog. I think the Times has really stumbled on to something here. A huge increase in population equals less traffic, less air pollution and economic prosperity. Let’s pack as many people in as we can!
