Britain’s Daley Thompson, who recently lost his world decathlon title, says he will prepare for his Olympic title defense at a training camp in Japan.

Thompson, 29, finished ninth at the World Championships in Rome and said he already has started making plans for next year’s Olympics in Seoul, South Korea.

“I was back in training . . . two days after I got back from Italy,” Thompson said. “I sat down with my coach and we’ve already plotted a course for Seoul.

“I’ll be going to a nice training camp in Japan five or six weeks before the Olympics. It will help me acclimatize and Seoul is only a 1 1/2-hour flight away,” the two-time Olympic champion said.

Thompson, who saw his world title go to East German Torsten Voss, said he had gotten over his defeat in Rome.
