Iranian airline officials held an Iranian passenger on a plane at Frankfurt airport for nearly six hours before releasing him to West German authorities, federal police said. According to a police statement, Iranair officials said that the Iranian, a 34-year-old student who has a West German residence permit, had committed criminal offenses in Iran. Police grounded the airliner after officers were refused access to the aircraft. The police said that after “energetic pleas,” the passenger was allowed to disembark and the plane and its 300 passengers left for Tehran.
