Separate lawsuits were filed by the parents of a 25-year-old man killed during last year’s Los Angeles Street Scene festival and by nine police officers who said they were injured by rock-throwing youths during the event. Gilberto and Rosa Maria Coll filed their suit against the city, the Los Angeles Police Department and festival sponsor Adolph Coors Co., claiming that the city should not have allowed Street Scene to take place after Police Chief Daryl Gates said the department could not control expected crowds. In the other Superior Court suit, the nine officers asked for $200,000 from each of several young people who they say threw rocks, bottles and other objects at them and their horses.
