Hallberg Wins Rain-Delayed Milwaukee Golf
Gary Hallberg birdied two of his last three holes and won the $108,000 first prize in the rain-delayed $600,000 Greater Milwaukee Open golf tournament.
Hallberg, winning only the second championship of his eight-year pro career, moved out of a four-way tie for the lead by shooting birdies on the first two holes--the sixth and seventh--after play resumed from Sunday’s rain delay.
After additional birdies on the 16th and 17th holes, he ended the round with a par on the 18th for a six-under 66 and a total of 19-under 269.
Tied for second at 271 were Wayne Levi, who finished with a 67, and Robert Wrenn, who had a 68. Larry Ziegler was fourth at 272 after shooting a 68.
