Jessica Hahn’s mother, lashing out at her daughter for posing topless for Playboy magazine, says she doesn’t know how her daughter can live with herself and she’s afraid of community backlash affecting her family.

“I don’t sleep, I don’t eat, it’s a wonder I’m not down to 90 pounds,” Jessica Moylan said in a telephone interview with the Charlotte Observer from her Long Island, N.Y., home.

Copies of the November issue of Playboy, which went on sale Tuesday, were being snatched off the newsstands in Charlotte, where Hahn testified for two days before a federal grand jury investigating Jim Bakker’s PTL ministry.

Dozens of people at the local airport succeeded in getting the former church secretary to autograph the 206-page issue with her photograph on the cover.

“Stay sweet,” “Keep smiling,” “Always look up,” she wrote in a swirling script across the cover.

“How can you live with yourself and do this?” asked Hahn’s 53-year-old mother. “I hope she’s happy. If, God forbid, Eddie (Hahn’s stepfather) has a stroke or Danny (her brother) gets beaten bad, I think I would have to kill her.”

On Tuesday, Moylan called Playboy headquarters in Chicago to ask for an advance copy of the magazine. “Please make sure me and my husband have a copy so we know what we have to face when we go outside,” she said she told Playboy officials.
