Science Workshops for Kids

Share

At this fall’s science workshops at the California Museum of Science and Industry, kindergartners will make model tide pools, fourth graders will build oscilloscopes and eighth graders will make their own cameras.

This ambitious schedule of Saturday morning classes is taught by top public school science teachers who will bring along their bags of tricks to the museum’s science labs. Classes are for preschoolers through eighth graders, with a two- to four-grade span in each class. Some classes meet once or twice; others on four consecutive Saturdays.

In “Discovering Groovy Green Things,” first-through-third-graders will build a terrarium. In the electricity class for grades two through four, kids will build simple parallel and series circuits. Fourth and fifth graders will make boomerangs and learn how helicopters work in “Adventures With Air.” “Pocket Pals” will be taught at the Los Angeles Zoo.
