Compensation to Internees

I’d like to convey to you my heartfelt gratitude for the magnificent, humanitarian editorial (Sept. 20) on the WW II internees.

It was refreshing to know that The Times propagates the principles of freedom, equality, justice and humanity on which this nation was established.

We Japanese-Americans cannot tolerate being associated with the Japanese who waged the war, just as the Americans of German and Italian ancestries had nothing to do with the war.

The fate of the redress and reparation bill is still uncertain, but a gesture of compensation by the United States is gratifying.
