Rescue officials in Medellin, Colombia, estimated the death toll from Sunday’s landslide at 300, but Mayor William Jaramillo Gomez said he fears it could reach 500. Workers continued to dig for bodies buried under tons of mud and rock that swept down a rain-soaked mountain into a poor neighborhood of the city. Fire Department Chief Pedro Nel Correa said crews had pulled 200 bodies from the rubble, and he estimated that 300 Colombians died in the disaster.
