Alhambra : Renewal Plan Delayed
The City Council has delayed action until Oct. 12 on a controversial redevelopment plan to move 10 small businesses and a home for the blind to clear room for a new car dealership.
City Manager Kevin Murphy said the delay will give the Redevelopment Agency additional time to seek new locations for property owners and tenants who would be displaced. The proposal calls for the agency to buy 3.2 acres on the south side of Main Street between Poplar Boulevard and Primrose Avenue to provide a new home for the Superior Pontiac dealership that is now in Monterey Park.
The council had been scheduled to consider a development agreement with the auto dealer this week, but postponed action at the request of its redevelopment staff.
