Sikh Extremists Kill 9 in India Village

MASANIA, India —
Sikh extremists firing pistols and submachine guns stalked Hindus through the Punjab village of Masania, 240 miles northwest of New Delhi, killing nine and wounding three others in a third day of violence in the northern state, police said Thursday.
At least 17 people were killed in separatist attacks in Punjab on Monday and Tuesday. More than 700 people--most of them Hindus--have died in Sikh extremist violence since Jan. 1.
