Sixty-eight potential jurors were called to a heavily guarded federal courtroom in Jacksonville, Fla., for the start of jury selection for the cocaine-smuggling trial of reputed Colombian drug czar Carlos Lehder. The security was less visible than in earlier court appearances by Lehder because defense attorneys had suggested that again placing armed guards on rooftops would have an impact on jurors entering the courtroom. A man was arrested trying to take a 9-inch kitchen knife into the building, but a spokesman for the U.S. Marshals Service said it was not known if the incident was related to the Lehder trial.
