Will Mercer Cook; Was Envoy to Niger

WASHINGTON —
Will Mercer Cook, a former ambassador to Niger and Senegal, is dead of pneumonia at age 84.
Cook, who died Sunday at the Washington Hospital Center, was named ambassador to Niger in 1962 and served there three years before he was named ambassador to Senegal, a position he held for two years.
