Local News in Brief : Development Plan Loses

Azusa residents have decided that they don’t want development on a local golf course--but they don’t want to buy it either.

Voters in the San Gabriel Valley city on Tuesday turned down a controversial plan to build apartments, homes and light industry on the Azusa Greens Country Club. But they resoundingly rejected another initiative that would have authorized a $26-million bond issue so that the city could buy the property and maintain it as a golf course.
