Two Lebanese soldiers were killed in crossfire during clashes between rival Druze and Christian militiamen southeast of Beirut, police said. The soldiers reportedly were passing outside a training academy for internal security forces in a Christian-controlled region when at least four shells hit the building, killing them. A cease-fire agreement was announced later. Meanwhile, there were reports that Palestinian guerrillas and Shia Amal militiamen were strengthening their positions near the southern coastal city of Sidon, creating fears that a new round of fighting could erupt there.
