Ironman Triathlon to Be Run Saturday

The Ironman triathlon begins Saturday morning at Kailua Kona, Hawaii, with about 1,250 entrants who will swim 2.4 miles, ride a bike 112 miles and run a 26.2-mile marathon.

Heading the men’s field will be Scott Tinley, 30, of San Diego, a two-time winner of the event, who placed third last year. Paula Newby-Fraser, 25, of Zimbabwe, returns to defend her women’s title.
