The State : Nixon Library in Yorba Linda?

Share

Richard Nixon’s presidential library may be built next to the Yorba Linda house where he was born, on the site Nixon originally hoped for when scouting for locations began more than four years ago. Yorba Linda’s City Manager recently notified the Richard Nixon Presidential Archives Foundation that the city will buy nine acres from the local school district for $1.3 million. Nixon’s special assistant John Taylor said the former president is interested in the Yorba Linda site. “One would just assume it will be a somewhat speedier process” in Yorba Linda, without the need for coastal permits or negotiations over related development, Taylor said. But it is still possible that the library will go to San Clemente, where plans have been stalled by a developer’s insistence that the building be accompanied by a 253-acre residential and commercial project.
