The ports of Long Angeles and Long Beach continued to top the list in U.S. Customs collections between April and June, according to the Treasury Department. Los Angeles area ports collected a total of $672.06 million in duties, taxes and other fees, up from $592.62 million for the same period last year. Southern California ports had a huge lead over New York, the No. 2 ranked port, which collected $488.01 million in the latest period.
Collections through San Francisco totaled $133.46 million, down from $147.21 million last year, while those through Los Angeles International Airport totaled $89.31 million, compared to $78.62 million. Custom collections for the entire United States totaled $4.2 billion, up 15% from the previous year.
