Chinese Aide Ousted by Party for Protecting Son

BEIJING —
A veteran Chinese revolutionary and high official in north China’s Shanxi province has been expelled from the Communist Party for protecting his rapist son from the police, official newspapers said Sunday.
Tong Yun, 65, deputy party secretary of Taiyuan city, gave false evidence and tried to obstruct police when they came to arrest his son for rape, the Guangming Daily said.
