Procter & Gamble officials predicted defeat for a shareholder motion that would prevent the household products giant from using animals to test the safety of its products. P&G; officials said they expect little support for the product-testing resolution, which will be considered by shareholders at the Cincinnati-based firm’s annual meeting today. Activists have targeted Procter & Gamble in their efforts to get companies to stop using animals for product testing. Company officials said they use animals, primarily rats and mice, only when necessary to test a product’s safety.
