Rioters in the funeral procession for Colombian leftist leader Jaime Pardo Leal looted stores in Bogota, and a 13-year-old boy was killed by soldiers attempting to clear a roadblock. Meanwhile, unions called a general strike to protest the slaying of Pardo, 47, president of the Patriotic Union, shot to death Sunday night by gunmen who stopped his car on a road outside the capital. As about 20,000 people marched with Pardo’s coffin to the cemetery, dozens of looters ran ahead of the procession, smashing store windows and carrying away goods.
