Citing a record number of orders for its computer systems, Tustin-based MAI Basic Four Inc. said it expects to record strong profit and sales growth in its 1988 fiscal year, which began Oct. 1.

Although the computer maker didn’t project actual sales and profit figures for the fiscal year, it said it expects results to be in line with its five-year plan calling for an average sales growth of 15% and average net income growth of 20%.

The company has not yet reported its fiscal 1987 results, but several stock analysts have said they expect MAI to report net income of about $23 million and sales of about $315 million. A company official said he was “reasonably comfortable” with those estimates.
