The lawyers handling the Texaco bankruptcy case will continue to be paid at 75% of their fees since U.S. District Court Judge Howard Schwartzberg reserved decision on whether to hike payment to 90%. Attorneys representing two separate creditors committees in Texaco’s Chapter 11 case argued that payment should be increased to 90% of the fees because Texaco was a solvent company. Legal fees since Texaco filed for protection from creditors under Chapter 11 of the federal bankruptcy code last April have topped $6.2 million for 11 law firms.
