A police officer was injured Wednesday in San Ysidro while arresting an illegal alien suspected of robbery, police reported.

Officer Linda Miller was part of a team of officers engaged in a sweep of the border area after reports that illegal aliens were being robbed by Mexican nationals about half a mile east of the port of entry and half a mile north of the border, police spokesman Bill Robinson said.

As members of the Border Crime Prevention Unit approached a group of four men, Miller began to talk to one of them. The man struck her, grabbed a broken bottle and cut her with it on the forearm and elbow.
