‘Arrogance’ in Central America

Walters deserves a serious scolding for his recent display at the U.N. By leading a walkout of the U.S. delegation during Ortega’s speech, he showed the childish false pride that has remained a hallmark of the Reagan Administration. However insulting Ortega’s words might have been, the walkout merely belies the moral infirmity that the people of this land have had to live under these past seven years.
My own shame and bitterness as a U.S. citizen would be greatly lessened if instead of turning our backs on our neighbors to the south, we would face them and speak with honesty and yes, why not, a touch of humility.
