Ladd Herzeg, general manager of the Houston Oilers, pleaded not guilty to a misdemeanor assault charge stemming from a fracas at a hotel Sept. 19, the night before the Oilers played the Buffalo Bills.
Justice Henry Gabraszak in Cheektowaga, N.Y., a Buffalo suburb, allowed Herzeg to remain free on $100 bail. Herzeg’s local lawyer, Vincent Tobia, said motions will be argued Nov. 19.
Herzeg, 41, is accused of striking James McDonald at a wedding reception after complaining of loud noise from the reception, police said. McDonald is the brother of the bride.
