Irvine : UC Irvine Gets $300,000 Grant for Cell Research

Share

UC Irvine has received a two-year $300,000 grant from the National Science Foundation for cell research, campus officials said.

Part of the grant will enable UCI to establish a facility for laser-scanning microscopy, which helps researchers view cells and tissue in much greater detail than possible with conventional equipment. The money also will help fund projects involving single-cell microinjection--the precision delivery of dyes and chemical markers into cells.

The grant was sought as part of UCI’s effort to bring researchers from different disciplines together with state-of-the-art equipment, officials said.
