Portrayal of Burbank Hospital

Share

Ifind the recent adverse portrayal of the care rendered to patients at Burbank Community Hospital disturbing. The focus on problems in the emergency room leaves one with an inaccurate picture of the entire facility.

As a physcian practicing in Burbank for 25 years, I have seen privileged to be a member of the staffs of both St. Joseph Medical Center and Burbank Community hospital.

In my experience, Burbank Community hospital has always served the community as a nonprofit institution dedicated to providing the highest quality of care. It has generously provided the resource for the training of interns and medical students from the College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific. The hospital administration has dedicated beds for the care of hospice patients without regard for the level of reinbursement.

When the furor regarding the emergency room care of a few patients subsides and when the problems are resolved, the public will still be left with a negative image of Burbank Hospital as a result of your reporting.

I believe this facility to be worthy of acclaim as an institution with high standards and dedication to serving the community.
