U.S. Volleyball Team Beats Soviet Union
The United States’s men’s volleyball team defeated the Soviet Union, 15-12, 10-15, 15-11, 15-13, Saturday night in the championship game of the USA Gatorade Cup.
The emotional, close match was wildly cheered by a crowd of 5,245 at the Forum. The United States, ranked No. 1 in the world, has never lost in the five-year history of the event.
In a consolation match, France beat Canada, 11-15, 16-14, 16-14, 17-15, for third place.
