Local News in Brief : Guilty Plea in Murder Case
A Hollywood man has pleaded guilty in a Pittsburgh court to killing a 50-year-old Russian immigrant who had become a U.S. citizen hours earlier.
Robert Howard, 41, agreed Monday to plead guilty to first-degree murder if prosecutors would not seek the death penalty. Allegheny County Common Pleas Judge Joseph Ridge imposed the mandatory life sentence.
Howard is accused of killing Ilya Oksen on March 19 by hitting him in the head with a crowbar and stabbing him.
