McDonald’s Corp.’s earnings rose 14% to $162.3 million for the third quarter, compared to a year ago. The Oak Brook, Ill., fast-food giant attributed the strong showing to “consistent restaurant expansion and a diversified menu which attracts the broadest customer base.” Cited specifically were the company’s “Mac Tonight” and “Monopoly” ad campaigns and new products such as ready-to-eat salads and an expanded breakfast menu.
