After a six-week lull, new scuffles broke out in Jerusalem between police and ultra-Orthodox Israelis protesting the screening of movies on the Jewish Sabbath. Demonstrators threw bottles and stones at police, who used tear gas to disperse protesters blocking roads with garbage. No arrests were made. Secular Israelis, backed by Jerusalem Mayor Teddy Kollek, say they have a right to entertainment on the Sabbath, which runs from dusk Friday to dusk Saturday.
