Superior Industries’ Profit Rises 21% for 3rd Quarter

Superior Industries posted a 21% gain in third-quarter profit, to $1.7 million, or 28 cents a share, from $1.4 million, or 24 cents a share, a year earlier.

The Van Nuys-based manufacturer of wheels, seat belts and other automotive parts said sales in the three months ended Sept. 30 were up 5%, from $35.6 million to $37.4 million.

For the first nine months of 1987, Superior’s earnings climbed 6% to $6.8 million, or $1.14 a share, from $6.4 million, or $1.08 a share, in the comparable 1986 period. Nine-month sales rose from $112.8 million to $122.2 million.
