Audi of America Inc. said it is recalling 57,000 1984 and 1985 Audi 5000 and 5000 Turbo models cars with automatic transmission for replacement of a faulty idle control unit. The recall is an extension of an earlier recall ordered in January for inspection of idle systems on certain Audi 5000 models. The idle control unit may cause uneven idle in certain circumstances. Although Audi hasn’t detected a defect in the idle control units, it said it would replace them with new ones it expects to be more reliable.
