Local News in Brief : More Time for Marrying

Share

New evening hours for the marriage license bureau in the Los Angeles County Courthouse downtown will begin Monday, rather than after the first of the year, as initially voted by the Board of Supervisors.

The new hours will be 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., but there will be no more Saturday morning service, according to Frank S. Zolin, county clerk and Superior Court administrator.

The daytime price for a license remains $35, but an extra $5 will be charged after 5 p.m. to help pay the cost of staying open late, Zolin said.

No-frills civil wedding ceremonies performed by county clerk employees designated deputy marriage commissioners will be available for $15--day or night.
