The government is spending $6,000 a day to house a suspected Lebanese Shia terrorist charged with participating in the 1985 hijacking of a Jordanian airliner, court papers said. The Justice Department said Fawaz Younis was under “extremely heavy security” at an undisclosed facility where he has “excellent medical care, a special diet and freedom to practice his religious exercises.” Younis was arrested last month by FBI agents who lured him onto a yacht in the Mediterranean with the prospect of spending a weekend of drug use with beautiful women. Responding to a defense request to allow Younis social visits, the government said U.S. marshals will place the defendant in an unspecified prison and the names of any prospective visitors must be submitted to prison officials for approval.
