Vincent J. Battaglia, 48, has been elected a corporate vice president of Varian Associates Inc., Palo Alto. Battaglia will continue as president of the Electron Device Group. Varian produces systems and components for defense, communications, scientific, semiconductor, medical and industrial markets.
