Syria replaced 15 members of the 36-member Cabinet for the new government of Premier Mahmoud Zubi, who was named to succeed Abdel-Raouf Kasm. Maj. Gen. Mustafa Talas retained his posts as deputy premier and defense minister, and Foreign Minister Farouk Shareh also kept his job. Among those who lost their positions were Finance Minister Qahtan Suyufi and Oil Minister Ghazi Durubi. Kasm resigned after Parliament forced out four ministers accused of mismanagement. Analysts foresee no changes in Syrian foreign policy.
