Three witnesses who have testified about an alleged racist assault that led to the death of a black man in Queens, N.Y., have received death threats and have been put under 24-hour police protection, the prosecutor said. The latest threat was made to Dominic Blum, who continued his testimony, according to special state prosecutor Charles J. Hynes. Four white teen-agers are on trial on charges of murder and manslaughter in the attack on three black men in the largely white Howard Beach section of Queens. One man was chased onto the Belt Parkway where he was struck and killed by a car.
