Sales of Masonry Blocks Increasing
Concrete masonry sales are going up but the number of masons is going down, according to a report from the National Concrete Masonry Assn.
Sales of the standard 8x8x16-inch concrete masonry blocks will reach a record 4,074 billion this year, 9.8% more than last year’s 3.71 billion.
The report says that the number of those wishing to become skilled masons is declining. The group’s data indicates that an additional 130,000 masons and support staff will be needed over the next 10 years.
The association’s headquarters is at 2302 Horse Pen Road, Herndon Va. 22070.
