Iraq has agreed to send its foreign minister for a new round of peace talks here with U.N. Secretary General Javier Perez de Cuellar but Iran has made no firm commitment, a U.N. spokesman said today.

Francois Giuliani said Iraq has notified the secretary general it will send Foreign Minister Tarik Aziz next Friday. “We have heard nothing from the other side,” Giuliani said, referring to Iran. Last week Giuliani said Iran had “agreed in principle” and today he said the secretary general had heard no more from Tehran.
