Lakers Put Show on the Road Tonight When They Face Spurs in San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO — The day should come when this will be one of the glamour matches in the National Basketball Assn: David Robinson and the Spurs vs. Magic Johnson and the Lakers.
For now, however, it’s Frank Brickowski and the Spurs vs. the Lakers, who will play here tonight in their first road game of the season.
Brickowski, a Laker until he was sent here along with Petur Gudmundsson last February in the trade for Mychal Thompson, has played surprisingly well in San Antonio’s first two games, a loss to Houston and a surprisingly easy win over Dallas. The 6-foot 10-inch, 240-pound center is averaging 15.5 points and 7 rebounds a game.
The Lakers out-rebounded their first two opponents, the Seattle SuperSonics and Houston Rockets, 100-72, but they’ve also committed 51 turnovers. Magic Johnson, who had his first triple-double Sunday, made seven turnovers against the Rockets and obviously is still feeling the effects of his three-week layoff.
