Marian Van Tuyl; Dance Teacher

Marian Van Tuyl, 80, an exponent of modern dance who was a member of the San Francisco Bay Area Dance Coalition Hall of Fame. Miss Van Tuyl was a retired chairwoman of the department of dance at Mills College where she started teaching in the 1940s. She also published a dance magazine, Impulse, said Adam Pinsker, former head of the American Assn. of Dance Companies. “It is one of the best journals we’ve ever had.” In San Francisco on Tuesday of cancer.
