Iraq announced that its warplanes attacked a tanker off Iran’s coast. The 264,081-ton Fortuneship L was being towed to Iran’s Larak Island in the Strait of Hormuz after the early morning attack by Iraqi jets. The owners of the vessel, Ceres Hellenic Shipping Enterprises of Piraeus, Greece, said there were no casualties among the crew of 25 Greeks and Pakistanis.
