Risk of Separation for Illegal Alien Families Under the Amnesty Law

Share

You really have to love the way INS chief Alan Nelson “clears the air.” He does it the same way a drill instructor selected “volunteers” for unsavory duty: every other one.

Nelson applies this same arbitrariness in determining which family members qualify for amnesty and which shall be deported under the new immigration law (“Ineligible Children Face Deportation, INS Says,” Part I, Oct. 22).

But Nelson seems to ignore the inhumane consequences this has for families, particularly children whose only crime apparently was being born at the wrong place or at the wrong time.

Surely one does not “clear the air” by filling it with the sobs of innocent, defenseless children. Pick on someone your own size, Mr. Nelson.
