TEL AVIV — Israeli troops killed three guerrillas in a clash on Saturday in the Israeli-declared security zone in southern Lebanon, an army spokesman said.
“A search of the area revealed the bodies of three terrorists. Signs of blood as well as signs that bodies had been dragged from the area indicated additional terrorists were hit but succeeded in escaping in the dark,” he said.
No Israelis were hurt in the pre-dawn fighting, northeast of the village of Azzieh, nine miles from the Israeli border, the spokesman said.
The spokesman said there was no immediate indication of the guerrillas’ organization, but they had been well-equipped.
