Navistar International Transportation Corp. and the United Auto Workers said in an announcement from Louisville, Ky., that they had reached tentative agreement on a three-year contract for more than 7,000 union employees in five states. The old contract was scheduled to expire Sept. 30 but was extended by mutual agreement, and normal operations had continued at the company’s plants. The union will not release details of the contract until ratification is completed by its eight locals, said Reg McGhee, a spokesman for the UAW.
