Local News in Brief : Plan for Homeless Urged

A city task force on the homeless Tuesday recommended that the Long Beach City Council support a plan for providing health insurance to indigents, force developers to contribute to low-income housing, adopt rent control and use money from the Port of Long Beach to aid the homeless.
The task force also said the city should provide a “clean-up center” where homeless people can bathe and pick up mail, as well as a separate 24-hour detoxification center.
